In the months of September and October, the GreenMobility partners successfully conducted the General Training Activities to finally present all the Educational Resources that have been produced in these two years of project implementation.
The training strongly focused on understanding sustainable urban mobility and encouraged dialogue among attendees on its impact on local communities and its role in combating climate change. The partners managed to involve a great number of participants from different entities and with varied backgrounds all related privately or publicly with urban planning, architecture and urban mobility. Participants were invited to explore the Learners Handbook, the GREENMOBILITY comprehensive manual outlining the impacts and benefits of sustainable urban mobility practices on the quality of life in urban environments. And then they were introduced to the Self-Assessment Toolkit, an invaluable resource to better understand their sustainable urban habits and discover actionable steps toward a greener approach to urban transit.
Also, representatives from inspiring initiatives developed across Europe, such as Clean Cities Campaign, Street for Kids and Bike to School, were invited to speak and share their knowledge and experiences.
What next?
The next and final step of the GreenMobility project has been the organisation of 5 Final Dissemination Events across the partners’ countries as a final moment of promotion and raising awareness that have involved higher institutions, urban mobility professionals, public entities and all the citizens interested in creating more livable and green cities.
The final dissemination events have been organised in a varied format that was adapted to the different priorities of the entities involved. Kaunas University of Technology and University of Thessaly successfully conducted a conference that engaged more than 50 people in each country between students, professors and representatives from environmental organisations. While partners LAND Impresa Sociale and TISC organised a Social Bike event that involved the citizens in a more active way across the cities of Palermo and Stockholm. Finally, the partner SYNTHESIS also conducted a very fruitful final event in the format of interactive workshops attended by representatives from educational institutes and municipalities.
The Consortium is more than delighted to conclude in such a wonderful way the two years of the project, with the certainty of having created a fertile ground for more discussion and cooperation on urban green mobility for all!
