KTU professor Asta Pundzienė Visits PariSanté Campus: Strengthening International Collaboration in Digital Healthcare Innovation

On September 26th dr. Asta Pundzienė, KTU professor and Head of the MLab Digital Healthcare Innovations Laboratory, visited the PariSanté Campus to explore opportunities for collaboration in digital health innovation and research. This visit was part of an ongoing initiative by the Research Council of Lithuania, represented by Sigita Auvertin and Laura Pekiene, along with the Embassy of the Republic of Lithuania to France, led by Daiva Chetcuti-Kirkilaite. The goal of the initiative is to foster international partnerships that advance healthcare technologies and improve patient outcomes globally.

Asta Pundzienė was a key member of the Lithuanian delegation of digital health professionals exploring the PariSanté Campus. Established in 2021, PariSanté Campus serves as a cutting-edge platform for health innovation, providing a valuable opportunity for collaboration between experts in life sciences and digital health.

The day began with an engaging presentation by Antoine Tesnière, Director General of PariSanté Campus, moderated by Laurent Marchand, Head of the Scientific Program. The delegation then heard from industry leaders, including:

  • ScienceOne, with Lionel Guerin, who explored the role of data and artificial intelligence in healthcare
  • IMP, presented by Thu-mai Nguyen from Inserm, who shared insights on biotechnology advancements and technology transfer, featuring six start-ups born from their research.
  • Héka, represented by Agathe Guilloux, opened discussions on the future of e-health solutions.
  • Inside, presented by Sonia Medoumir, introduced innovations in digital simulation for healthcare.

During her visit, A. Pundzienė met with prominent researchers, healthcare professionals, and representatives from the Frenchdigital healthcare innovation ecosystem. Together, they discussed the latest advancements in health technology, digital health solutions, and cancer prevention strategies. Her visit highlights the growing need for crossborder cooperation in addressing global health challenges such as chronic disease prevention, personalized medicine, and the digital transformation of healthcare.

The discussions during the visit focused on several key areas of mutual interest:

  • Cancer Late Effects Management and Research: A. Pundzienė shared her work on managing the late effects of cancer insurvivors, exploring synergies with PariSanté Campus projects focused on early detection, late effects management, and patient education.
  • Digital Health Solutions: Both sides emphasized the importance of integrating digital tools into healthcare, includingremote patient management platforms and AI-driven diagnostics, to enhance accessibility and efficiency in patient care.
  • Fostering Innovation: Discussions also explored how academic institutions and health startups can collaborate to translate cutting-edge research into scalable solutions that benefit healthcare systems worldwide.

The visit concluded with a commitment to further collaborative initiatives, leveraging the unique strengths of PariSanté Campus and Asta Pundzienė’s extensive network in healthcare innovation.

TiFEC Project Synergies

The discussions during the visit are closely aligned with ongoing research activities at Kaunas University of Technology (KTU), particularly within the framework of the Center of Excellence in Technological and Physical Sciences (lt: Technologinių ir Fizinių Mokslų Ekscelencijos Centras (TiFEC))  project . The TiFEC project focuses on advancing technological and physical sciences to contribute to sustainable economic growth and international competitiveness.

Professor Asta Pundzienė’s research group collaborates actively with other TiFEC researchers, which have significant potential for integration into digital health solutions, such as remote health monitoring. These efforts aim to enhance healthcare through efficientresource use and the development of novel technologies that have both environmental and social benefits. This collaboration notonly supports the advancement of digital healthcare technologies but also positions KTU as an active participant in achievingsustainable and impactful solutions for health and well-being.
