On May 1, 2020 we lost the former Dean of Kaunas University of Technology, School of Economics and Business – Professor, Doctor of Social Sciences Bronius Neverauskas. Professor has dedicated nearly 50 years of his professional life to the School.
Both Professor’s life and activities left a clear trace – talented educator, bright researcher, great organizer and a person of a sensitive soul. It is a beautiful testimony of person, who was constantly seeking for good and acting with dignity and kindness.
Essential facts of the biography witness the exceptional personality of the Professor. B. Neverauskas was born on March 28, 1947 in Varpučiai village, Vilkaviškis district, Lithuania. In 1965 he graduated from Kybartai K. Donelaitis Secondary School. In 1970 he obtained the qualification of an engineer-economist at the Faculty of Engineering Economics of Kaunas Polytechnic Institute and was invited to work as a pedagogue in this Alma Mater.
In 1981 he defended his doctoral dissertation “Determining the Need for Work Organization Specialists” at the Institute of Economics of Latvian Academy of Sciences. He worked in the Department of Management for many years and was a long-term member of the KTU Senate, School of Economics and Management Council. During 1992 – 2006 he served as Dean of KTU School of Economics and Management. Under the leadership Prof. B. Neverauskas contributed a lot to the renewal and modernization of the School, improvement of study programs, fostering old and initiating of new traditions of the School. During 2007 – 2012 he was Head of the Department of Quality Management and Project Management Center. He worked as a Professor at the School of Economics and Business (until 2014 Economics and Management) until 2018. Through his research and achievements, Professor encouraged many students and prepared them for the responsible academic and scientific work for the benefit of Lithuania’s welfare and science.
Prof. B. Neverauskas research interests covered a wide range of corporate management and project management issues. B. Neverauskas, alone and together with co-authors, published various publications: the dictionary “Explanatory Dictionary of Company Management Terms” (2000), the monograph “Management: Quantitative and Qualitative Aspect of Specialist Training” (2002), textbooks – “Fundamentals of Management” (2001), “Characteristics of International Project Management” (2007), “Project Planning” (2008), “Project Management” (2008), over 50 articles in Lithuanian and foreign scientific publications.
Professor was a member of KTU Management and Administration and KTU Economics research fields Qualification Commissions, the scientific supervisor of several defended doctoral dissertations, participated in doctoral dissertation defence councils in Lithuanian and foreign universities.
Neverauskas was a member of the editorial boards of several national and foreign research journals. From 2012 to 2020 – Editor-in-Chief of the scientific publications journal “Engineering Economics”, referenced in world-class publications databases. During the period of his leadership of the editorial board, the quality of research publications of the journal increased, and the geography of the authors of the articles expanded.
For his long-term and sincere contributions in educating the young generation and merits in the establishment of Kaunas city Municipality prof. B. Neverauskas received Minister of Education and Science of the Republic of Lithuania Recognition Award, KTU Rector Recognition Award, Kaunas City 2nd degree Santaka badge of honour, Kaunas City Mayor Jonas Vileišis Medal.
We have lost not only a scientist, but also a person of a noble spirit, who, by giving a piece of himself, has enriched the lives of all of us. Professor’s life motto – if you can, understand and help – reflects his attitude to the world. Everyone who had the honour of knowing Prof. B. Neverauskas, felt great respect for him because of his simplicity, sensitivity, respect for the colleagues.
The lifelong memory of Prof. Bronius Neverauskas will remain in hearts of his colleagues, in his works and in the history pages of KTU School of Economics and Business. In this hour of loss, we express our deepest condolences to the relatives, friends and to all who knew him.
