Health2Innovation Bootcamp in Sweden: Turning Ideas into Health Impact

Community | 2025-12-29

Health2Innovation brought together partners, mentors, students, graduates, and entrepreneurs from across Europe for an intensive two-day Innovation Bootcamp in Lund, Sweden. Hosted at SmiLe Venture Hub and Medicon Village—the largest life sciences technology park in Scandinavia—the bootcamp united participants from nine European countries: Lithuania, Portugal, Cyprus, Greece, Sweden, Spain, Poland, France, and Romania.

The bootcamp welcomed 18 selected students, who worked alongside entrepreneurs and mentors to transform real-world health challenges into viable, impactful solutions. Through hands-on teamwork, expert-led sessions, and peer-to-peer learning, participants explored how innovation, entrepreneurship, AI, and advanced technologies can drive the future of digital health in Europe.

From Ideas to Teams

Participants collaborated in multidisciplinary, international teams, exchanging ideas and perspectives from different healthcare systems, academic backgrounds, and startup ecosystems. Several teams were formed during the bootcamp, each developing early-stage concepts addressing unmet needs in healthcare—from AI-powered clinical tools to data-driven health solutions. The collaborative format fostered cross-border cooperation and laid the groundwork for continued European innovation partnerships.

Expert Speakers and Mentors

The bootcamp featured expert-led sessions delivered by experienced professionals from across Europe’s innovation and health ecosystems. Neringa Šeperienė, CEO and Co-Founder of BrachyDOSE, opened the programme with an inspirational startup session, sharing practical insights and lessons learned from her entrepreneurial journey in medtech, including product development, regulatory challenges, and building a startup in the healthcare sector.

Moyses Moyseos, Incubator Manager at Gravity Ventures (CyRIC EU|BIC), delivered an inspirational session on startup development, offering insights into entrepreneurial mindset, early-stage venture support, and scaling health innovations within European ecosystems. Daniel Ramón Calvo, entrepreneur and innovation strategist, introduced participants to European and international funding opportunities, outlining grants, investment instruments, and strategic approaches to financing health and deep-tech ventures.

Advanced technologies were explored by Professor Ioannis Tsougos from the University of Thessaly (Greece), who led a session on AI in healthcare, highlighting how artificial intelligence and medical imaging are transforming diagnostics and clinical decision-making. Marius Bogdan Pislariu, entrepreneur and business strategy advisor, guided participants through business planning, focusing on business model development, strategic thinking, and sustainable growth. Isak Simonsson, Project Manager at SmiLe Venture Hub, delivered a practical pitching session, coaching teams on storytelling, value proposition clarity, and effective communication with investors and stakeholders.

In addition, Gonçalo Pereira Fonseca, representing BEDEV, presented ParaHealth, an innovative and sustainable catheter fixation solution designed to adapt to any catheter and body region. His presentation highlighted ParaHealth’s safe reusability, eliminating cross-infection risks while offering hospitals a more environmentally sustainable and cost-effective alternative.

Experts from SmiLe Venture Hub also provided dedicated guidance on regulatory aspects in healthtech, covering regulatory pathways, compliance requirements, and market access considerations—essential knowledge for successfully bringing healthcare innovations to market.

Lithuanian Innovation in the Spotlight

Lithuanian participants played a visible role during the bootcamp. Gita Pauliukonytė from the Lithuanian University of Health Sciences and Ernest Tretjakov, an Information Technologies student from Kaunas University of Technology, developed and presented an AI-powered clinical assistant for melanoma, showcasing how digital tools can support clinical decision-making and early diagnosis. Lithuanian entrepreneur Neringa Šeperienė also contributed as a inspirational speaker, sharing practical insights and lessons learned from her startup journey with BrachyDOSE.
