Project no.: S-ST-22-23

Project description:

Recently, the question of shorter working hours is relevant and under discussion in Lithuania, but the benefit and impact of such changes on the country’s economy are still unclear. However, Lithuania is not the first country that considers shorter working hours. Some countries of the European Union (EU) have already implemented changes in working time duration, so the analysis of their experience and the evaluation of the impact of this decision from a macroeconomic point of view could help Lithuania to decide on shortening working hours as well.
The aim of the project is to assess the impact of working hours on the economy of EU countries.
Tasks:
1. To review the trends in working hours in EU countries.
2. To analyze the scientific literature on the impact of working hours on economic indicators.
3. To evaluate the impact of working hours on economic indicators.
