In-Work Poverty in the European Union: Structural Factors and Trends

Project no.: S-ST-25-73

Project description:

In-work poverty is one of the most paradoxical phenomena of the modern labour market. Even though they have jobs, millions of Europeans are unable to secure a decent standard of living. This highlights deep-rooted social and economic structural issues, including low wages, unstable employment, fragmented social protection and a segmented labour market. Do these structural factors determine the prevalence of in-work poverty in different European Union countries? Which have the greatest impact on the risk of in-work poverty? This study aims to assess the main structural factors that influence the risk of in-work poverty in EU countries, and to identify the most effective policy interventions for reducing poverty.

Project results:

The study will identify structural factors that influence the risk of poverty in different socioeconomic environments. It will be based on a review of country-specific policies and multidimensional analysis methods, combining quantitative and qualitative approaches. In addition, a student will be actively involved in the study, participating in all stages of the research and developing critical and analytical thinking, as well as practical research skills.
