Project description:

The project aim is to study the possibilities of application of blockchain technology in the financial sector.
Project activities: analysis of scientific literature, analysis of theoretical solutions, data collection and analysis, presentation, and publication of intermediate results.
Aimed results of the project: to reveal the theoretical aspects of the use of blockchain technology in the financial sector, to perform an empirical study of the application of blockchain technology to payment operations.

Project funding:

Project is funded by EU Structural Funds according to the 2014–2020 Operational Programme for the European Union Funds’ Investments priority “Development of scientific competence of researchers, other researchers, students through practical scientific activities” under Measure No. 09.3.3-LMT-K-712.


Project results:

The analysis of the scientific literature, theoretical solutions, empirical data collected by submitting a questionnaire to the respondents (Lithuanian FinTech companies) and their analysis were performed. Based on the developed theoretical research model and collected data, a study examining the possibilities of applying blockchain technology in the financial sector was carried out, focusing on the intention of FinTech companies operating in Lithuania to implement blockchain technology in the organization’s activities or services.
